On November 15, 2025, the Southwest University Animal Industry Alumni Association was officially established in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. School leaders, including Professor Ge Xinyong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Southwest University, and Professor Wang Yongcai, former Vice President, together with alumni representatives from the animal industry across the country, gathered to witness this important moment. Through the election at the general meeting, Professor Chen Guicai, Chairman of Zhejiang Esigma Biotechnology Co., Ltd., was elected as the president of the first session of the alumni association.

The establishment ceremony kicked off with the solemn school song. On behalf of the university, Vice President Ge Xinyong delivered a speech, extending warm congratulations on the establishment of the Animal Industry Alumni Association. He emphasized that the alumni association serves as an important platform connecting the alma mater with alumni and promoting industry-university-research cooperation. He pointed out that Southwest University has a profound foundation in fields such as animal science, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, and the establishment of the alumni association will further integrate industry resources, promote in-depth integration of academia and industry, and inject new vitality into the university's "Double First-Class" construction and the high-quality development of the industry.

In his speech, Professor Wang Yongcai reviewed the development history of the animal discipline at Southwest University and fully affirmed the outstanding contributions made by alumni in fields such as animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, and biotechnology. He stated that the alumni association will become a "spiritual home" for alumni to exchange and cooperate and share resources, and he looks forward to everyone working together to honor the alma mater and empower the industry.

Professor Chen Guicai, the newly elected president, delivered an inauguration speech. He thanked the alma mater for its trust and the alumni for their support, and proposed three major development directions for the alumni association in the future: first, building a bridge for university-enterprise cooperation to promote the implementation of industry-university-research projects; second, constructing an industry think tank to provide technical consulting and talent training support for alumni enterprises; third, organizing academic forums and industry summits to promote the exchange of cutting-edge technologies. President Chen stated that he will go all out to build a "warm, in-depth, and powerful" alumni association to help alumni and the alma mater grow together.

At the meeting, Cai Huiyi, President of the China Animal Agriculture Association and Honorary President of this alumni association, sent a congratulatory video. Alumni representatives launched enthusiastic discussions around the theme of "Innovation and Sustainable Development of the Animal Industry" and shared their experiences and achievements in their respective fields. A number of alumni entrepreneurs reached preliminary cooperation intentions on site, involving cutting-edge fields such as animal husbandry intelligence, research and development of new veterinary drugs, and development of biological feed.

It is reported that relying on the university's disciplinary advantages and focusing on industry pain points, the Southwest University Animal Industry Alumni Association will regularly hold activities such as academic salons, technical matching meetings, and special talent recruitment sessions, and is committed to building a collaborative network for alumni in the national animal industry. The Secretariat of the Alumni Association has launched the membership registration work and sincerely invites all alumni to join in drawing a blueprint for the development of the industry.

The establishment ceremony concluded successfully with a group photo of all participants. Alumni have stated that they will take the alumni association as a link, inherit the spirit of Southwest University of "Inclusiveness, Magnificence, Inheritance and Forging Ahead", and contribute wisdom and strength to the progress of the industry and the development of the alma mater.
