Function mechanism

Tributyrin releases glycerol and tri-molecular butyric acid under the action of intestinal lipase. Butyric acid is the most important energy substance in animal intestinal cells, which can rapidly repair damaged intestinal mucosa, reduce the pH value of intestinal contents, inhibit the growth of intestinal pathogens, alleviate intestinal inflammation, and reduce the occurrence of digestive tract disease, thus play an important role in maintaining animal intestinal health and promoting animal growth.

Application effect

Ø Effect of tributyrin on chicken

1.Improve growth performance: After adding tributyrin, the average daily gain of broilers increased by 6.67%, and the FCR decreased by 5.56% (P<0.05).

2.Improve intestinal flora structure: Dietary supplementation tributyrin could increase the quantity of lactobacillus and decrease the quantity of E.coli in the caecum contents of broilers. The ratio of lactobacillus to E.coli increased.

3. Promotes villi development and maintains intestinal health: The height of duodenum and jejunum villi were increased by 11.83% and 15.11% respectively (P<0.05) when tributyrin was added to the diet. Crypt depth showed a trend of shallower, but the difference was not significant (P>0.05).

Ø Effect of tributyrin on swine

1. Improve growth performance: After adding tributyrin, the daily gain of piglets increased by 11.79% (P<0.05), the FCR decreased by 4.14% and the diarrhea rate decreased by 66.67% (P<0.05).

2. Improve nutrient digestibility: After the addition of tributyrin, the apparent digestibility of crude protein, lipid and energy in diet increased by 6.56%, 12.38% and 4.09%, respectively.
